​Dr. John Tung trained at Children's Hospitals of Philadelphia (CHOP) and was attending AI DuPont Children's Hospital (AIDHC) where he has worked and trained.

Dr. John Tung graduated from Guy's Hospital in London in 1988. He has trained at leading teaching hospitals including Great Ormond Street (London), CHOP, King's College Hospital (London).
During his fellowship at CHOP, he was awarded the American Gastroenterology Association Grant to research the development of the intestinal tract.

He then worked in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at King's College Hospital ,UK and completed his Specialty Certification for United Kingdom.
 
While at AI DuPont Children's Hospital, he was the medical director of the liver transplant program until his departure for private practice in 2005.
